Okavango Delta

Okavango delta in northwestern Botswana is home to robust populations of some of the world's most endangered large mammals. Cheetahs, white and black rhinoceros, wild dogs and lions all have adapted to life in this wetland habitat. It is one of the very few major interior delta systems that do not flow into a sea or ocean. The annual revitalizing flood tides of the River Okavango during the peak of the dry season have resulted in native flora and fauna synchronizing their biological cycles with these seasonal rains and floods, and have created an exceptional interaction between climatic, hydrological and biological processes.
