Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch

This outstanding example of the High Alps includes the most glaciated part of the Swiss Alps mountain range and the longest glaciers in western Eurasia. The beauty of its impressive landscape, the wide diversity of ecosystems, and the wealth of information about the formation of mountains and glaciers, as well as ongoing climate change, provide the world with priceless universal value. This site is actually an extension of the natural World Heritage property of Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn (first inscribed in 2001). The vistas of spectacular peaks and idyllic valleys continue to inspire European art and literature, challenge mountaineers, and delight alpine tourists.
