Indonesia: Helping to Install Garbage Bins in Batam
2020.10.08
PT. Panasonic Industrial Devices Batam (PIDSG-BT) cooperated with Adipura, a program organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry to help beautify the environment of Batam. On March 14 30 employees of PIDSG-BT participating in this program joined a ceremony in the Engku Putri Field of Batam to mark its start, together with approximately a thousand citizens, public officials, and students, and presided over by the mayor of Batam.
This program intends to increase understanding of the importance of the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) to get local residents sorting their garbage. It was held from March 14 to July 31.
The employees of PIDSG-BT installed sets of garbage bins in three colors for sorting (green, yellow, and red) in 100 places in the city, including hospitals, public offices, the airport, schools, and parks. The green bins are for food and other organic waste, yellow is for plastic, glass, cans, and plastic bottles, while red is for households lights, batteries, ballpoint pens and so on. The color-coding makes sorting garbage easier.
PIDSG-BT is contributing to the local community through this program.
