Thailand: Cleaning and Donations for Children's Day
2020.03.10
Panasonic Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (PMFTH) held cleaning and donations to mark Children's Day at the Ban Wang Ben School in Uttaradit on January 11.
These activities are performed by an NGO called the Ruamjai8640 SrirachaGroup, to provide aid to children and people living in low income areas of rural villages. Some 72 private sector companies, including PMFTH, are involved in supporting these activities.
A total of 1,198 volunteers took part, including 32 from PMFTH and 380 from other companies, as well as pupils and teachers of local schools and villagers. The volunteers cleaned the classrooms, corridors, libraries, and grounds of the local schools. Fund-raising held by the participating companies prior to the activity led to a donation of 4,970,000 baht (approximately US$ 164,000) to Ban Wang Ben School and a hospital. The money will be used for scholarships to local children, repairs to the library, and to buy stationery and new clothes.
*Thailand celebrates National Children's Day on the second Saturday of January each year.
Children are allowed free entry to cinemas, zoos, amusement parks, aquariums, and other places, while various leisure facilities hold special events to mark the occasion.
