Vietnam: Panasonic Group Companies Plant Trees
2020.12.10
On October 3 eight Panasonic Group companies in Vietnam* took part in Panasonic for Green Vietnam, a tree planting project in cooperation with the Vietnamese Government (the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), in Nam Dinh Province.
The project has been continuing in various regions of Vietnam since 2013. So far Panasonic has donated approximately 140,000 trees in ten provinces, including Thai Nguyen and Dong Nai.
Though the number of participants was limited this year due to COVID-19, a total of 230 people took part, including approximately 100 Panasonic employees as well as members of the government and local residents of Nam Dinh. They planted 18,000 casuarina trees, and the employees also picked up garbage from the beaches of the province.

They also collected used dry-cell batteries from participants, giving them new Panasonic batteries in return. If used dry-cell batteries aren't disposed of properly they can create pollution, so this action has raised environmental awareness by showing people the correct way to discard batteries. An eco learning workshop was also held for a hundred students of a local Nghia Tan middle school.
