On 7 January 2024, 32 staff from Panasonic Cambodia branch participated in the Beach Clean Drive at the Koh Rong Samloem island which is a popular tourist beach destination in Preah Sihanouk Province, Cambodia as part of the Panasonic ECO RELAY initiative.

The activity aimed at cleaning the coastal area of a popular tourist beach area in Koh Rong Samloem island which welcomed many visitors during the new year’s evening countdown. A total of approximately 10kg of plastic waste and other waste materials were collected during the clean-up drive.

Speaking at the event, Yasunobu Matsumoto the country head of Cambodia branch said, “Through this type of activity we not only aim to create a sustainable society by actively participating, but also encourage teamwork and bonding among local staff members in implementing environmental conservation activities together”.

Eco Relay program is a global initiative of Panasonic that inspires employees to be “sustainable ambassadors.” The initiative aims to convey the message of environmental protection and the inspiration of sustainable development to communities.

Koh Rong Samloem island Beach Clean-up drive is the first activity to be conducted under ECO Relay initiative in Cambodia, which will help to improve the coastal and ocean eco system in the area while empowering local staff to create a greater sense of responsibility towards the environment.
