Wishing to Support the Project to Bring Light to People Living in Off-grid Areas
Ami Kuroda, Advertising Department, Panasonic
I learned about the Bringing Light to People project when I read an article about Panasonic employees delivering solar lanterns as overseas volunteers. I was moved when I encountered off-grid areas while traveling around as a backpacker, and had been thinking about ways to contribute to Panasonic’s project.
In the meantime, I came up with the idea of providing assistance to the project through my daily work involving the creation of advertisements, and consequently proposed this series of ads.
Asahi Shimbun: Double-page newspaper ad “Doctors ver.”
Mainichi Shimbun: Full-page newspaper ad “Doctors ver.”
Mainichi Shimbun: Full-page newspaper ad “Teachers ver.”
Mainichi Shimbun: Full-page newspaper ad “Astronauts ver.”
These ads visualize the stories that develop from the project: Light will be delivered to children living in off-grid areas along with donated books, and therefore help their future dreams come to fruition. The artworks visualized such stories.
We created actual artworks using books and took photos.
Doctors ver.
Teachers ver.
Astronauts ver.
The artworks created by stacking books one by one were tall and powerful.
Light beautifully illuminated the silhouettes of doctors, teachers, and astronauts.
* Some of the books used for the artworks were donated after photographing.
There are different types of donations. In the Bringing Light to People project, we simply drop off used books and music CDs instead of donating money. We can deliver dreams to people living in off-grid areas with such simple actions. We hope that the expansion of this project will encourage individuals to participate in donation projects in Japan and that helping one another will become common practice.
