”LIGHT UP THE FUTURE” PROJECT
This project picks up where the project to donate 100,000 solar lanterns left off,
bringing light to areas that have no electricity using Panasonic’s
renewable energy technology.
Working with partner organizations such as NPOs, NGOs and international groups,
support programs on the ground guide communities
toward sustainability and eliminate poverty by providing
opportunities for education, health, and increased income.

There are approximately 760 million people living in areas without electricity in the world*.

It all started with a single letter.

People living in off-grid areas face health hazards caused by the black smoke from kerosene lamps. Panasonic’s solar cells can solve this problem. Please provide us with your support. Minister of State for the Vice President’s Office, Republic of Uganda

In response to a letter from Uganda’s Minister of State,
Panasonic began developing lighting that uses renewable energy,
and in 2009 Uganda became the first to receive eco-friendly solar lanterns.
From 2013 to 2018, a total of 100,000 solar lanterns were donated
to 30 countries in Asia and Africa as part of the “100 Thousand Solar Lanterns Project”.
Today, because many people still live in areas without electricity,
the “LIGHT UP THE FUTURE” project continues bringing light to people’s lives.
To date, over 120,000 solar lanterns have been delivered
to more than 30 countries and regions around the world.
