“HR Modernization” is one of the main initiatives of the Panasonic Group for human capital management along with “Organization Culture Transformation” and “Develop & Appoint Transformational Leaders”. Through HR Modernization we are working to utilize cutting-edge technologies in every HR management field.
Transformation through HR Modernization
HR Modernization is an initiative that leverages cutting-edge technology and data to evolve the way employees work and how HR management functions. By utilizing HR data and generative AI, we aim to enhance the experience of all employees within the Panasonic Group while optimizing the management of the organization and its human resources. By promoting the standardization and efficiency of HR operations, we are further transforming HR to support business strategy. We are creating an environment where each individual can focus on more creative work, maximizing the potential of every employee, sharing results across the entire group, and contributing to both strengthening employee growth and organizational competitiveness.
Enhancing Employee Experience
- Visualizing Skills and Promotion of Growth: By linking Job Descriptions (JDs) to individual skills, strengths, and challenges, employees can select future learning opportunities, enabling rapid growth in a short period.
- Expanding Career Options: Based on each employee’s skill information, AI can recommend optimal training programs and new internal positions, thereby broadening career choices.
- Maintaining Career Consistency: Employees can transfer their skill data when moving to different companies within the Group, allowing for continuous career development over the mid to long term.
Advancing Resource Management
- Visualization of HR Portfolio: By standardizing and visualizing the human resources and skills portfolio across the group, we can identify challenges related to human resources and swiftly explore optimal solutions.
- Right People in the Right Place: We can identify candidates who fit open positions in an agile manner, both internally and externally.
- Utilization of External Benchmarks: By applying globally standardized job definitions and skill libraries, we can establish the compensation standard that aligns with the market.
Efficiency in HR Operations
- Improving Recruitment with Automated Processes: By linking with Job Descriptions (JDs) and utilizing generative AI, we can swiftly create job postings for career-hires and internal job openings.
- Streamlining Transfer Notification Processes: By utilizing globally standardized functions and processes, we can efficiently and swiftly carry out HR operations, including transfer notifications.
- Utilizing the Cutting-Edge Technology: Regular system updates ensure that we can continuously benefit from the latest functions of generative AI.
- Updating Skill Master Data Automatically: By automatically incorporating market data several times a year, we can maintain and update our skill master data more frequently.

Best Practices of HR Modernization
New systems are emerging with leveraged use of generative AI to accelerate transformation in the HR field. Here, we will introduce some of the best practices such as new forms of career support, the evolution of HR services, and the establishment of AI utilization platforms for employees.
Generative AI Support for Students’ Early Career Selection
The Panasonic Group in Japan implemented hybrid recruitment activities that combine human interaction with generative AI. In 2024, we introduced the “AI Career Supporter,” which serves as a friendly resource for students to discuss and explore their career options together. With hundreds of practical internship opportunities across various business areas and job types, the generative AI suggests optimal themes based on students’ majors, interests, and behavioral characteristics. Moreover, “AI Career Supporter” provides advice on options for job hunting, supporting students in their early career considerations. According to user surveys, 93% of students expressed a wish to continue using this service, indicating a high level of satisfaction.
Generative AI Training Specialized for HR Operations
The Panasonic Group is conducting company-wide training to promote the utilization of generative AI in HR operations. This training is mandatory for HR employees at Panasonic Holdings Corporation with its operating companies, focusing on methods to be commonly shared for leveraging generative AI across HR. Training includes practical exercises, based on realscene scenarios, to facilitate smooth implementation after the training. With over 1,600 participants, this training is steadily embedding the use of generative AI within our HR members.
Career Consultation for Internal Job Postings Using Generative AI
At our Group, approximately 1,200 employees take on new career opportunities through internal job postings annually, with around 500 of them utilizing the group-wide system. To encourage more employees to take advantage of this internal posting system and to enable each individual to autonomously shape their career paths, we have introduced the “Internal Job Posting AI Career Support” tool, which incorporates generative AI. The page for career consultation includes the two main themes “Career Consultation” and “Position Matching,” which employees can select according to their specific purpose. Through dialogue with the generative AI, employees can visualize their values and more easily explore their future career paths.
One-Stop HR Service with AI Utilization for 70,000 Employees
We provide a “One-Stop HR Service” for approximately 70,000 employees in the Japan region. This service centralizes HR information and inquiry access through personalized “My Pages” tailored to individual needs, and supports automated responses and applications via the AI chatbot “Virtual Agent.” Additionally, we offer the reassurance of traditional face-to-face interactions in the “Metaverse,” where specialized “Concierges” directly address complicated inquiries. This approach combines self-directed service with human support, delivering comprehensive assistance to all employees.
“PX-AI”: AI Assistant Service for Panasonic Group’s Internal Use
As part of our DX strategy, “Panasonic Transformation (PX),” the Panasonic Group launched a company-specific AI assistant service called “PX-AI” in April 2023, initially providing it to approximately 90,000 employees in Japan. The service has since expanded to around 180,000 employees globally. We are also piloting the development of a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system that reflects internal information from our various operating companies. Furthermore, we are working to expand the utilization of generative AI by developing products and services equipped with this technology and promoting its application in collaboration with technical departments.
