To Unlock Each and Every Employee

Panasonic Group aims for a company in which each employee can UNLOCK their potential and maximize their abilities and skills. Our founder placed great importance on establishing an environment where every employee immerses themselves in work. With that concept in mind, we will create a framework to enable challenges by each through visualization of the current situation by the indicators.

New Value Born from a Flow State

The Panasonic Group is committed to achieving "an ideal society with affluence both in matter and mind." We continuously create new value while confronting social challenges head-on. To that end, it is essential to align the aspirations of individuals and companies, maximizing the power that emerges from this synergy.

When the morale to take on challenges and the ability to perform are fulfilled simultaneously, individuals enter a “flow state” and achieve the best performance. This state is the very moment when each employee’s potential is drawn out and fully UNLOCKed. As these individual strengths are liberated and stimulate one another, the entire company will become vibrant dynamically. We are dedicated to making this future a reality.

This figure is based on the book, "Finding Flow: The Psychology Of Engagement With Everyday Life." The horizontal axis represents the "Skill Level," while the vertical axis is the "Challenge Level." This figure is divided into the eight areas that share a common center. Each area indicates the mental status. Starting clockwise from the area both lowest in "Skill Level" and "Challenge Level," these areas include "Apathy." "Worry," "Anxiety," "Arousal," "Flow," "Control," "Relaxation," and "Boredom." The area of "flow" is at the highest position both in "Skill Level" and "Challenge Level.

UNLOCK State Shown by Indicators

A state in which each individual’s potential is UNLOCKed can be described as one where individuals actively and boldly take on challenges that exceed the expectations of others, fully utilizing their abilities and skills while effectively implementing the Panasonic Group’s Basic Business Philosophy on a higher level.

This figure shows UNLOCK indicators. The horizontal axis represents the "Skill Level," while the vertical axis is the "Challenge Level." The UNLOCK mindset employees are at the highest position for both the "Skill Level" and "Challenge Level.

The Employee Opinion Survey is applied as a tool to visualize the status. As the two critical indicators, we have “greater motivation with encouragement from the company or supervisors” and “there are no significant barriers to take on new challenges.” With continued monitoring to ensure an increase in favorable responses to the questions, we will establish an environment where each employee can take on challenges, fully utilizing their abilities and skills.

The figure shows the correlation between the UNLOCK status and the question in the Employee Opinion Survey. The status of "Taking on bold challenges by exceeding expectations" is linked to the question, "Motivation with encouragement from the company or supervisors." While the status of "Maximizing skills and abilities" is linked to the question, there is "No significant barriers to take on new challenges." In our definition of practicing our Basic Business Philosophy at a higher level, the status can be indicated by higher favorable response rates both in these two questions.

In the current Japan region, employees who can assert that they can UNLOCK their potential is about 30% (1 out of 3 employees)*. This figure comes from the Employee Opinion Survey. These employees, with the motivation from the company or supervisor that boosts their willingness to take on challenges, are going beyond expectations and maximizing their potential, as there are no barriers in their work. Our target is to raise the figure up to 60% (2 out of 3 employees).

The figure shows the proportion of employees with the UNLOCK mindset. Our target is to increase from the current one in three to two in three.

*Favorable response rate in FY 2025 (PHD,PEX, Operating Companies in Japan region): 32%

The Thoughts of the Founder,
Konosuke Matsushita

The founder, Konosuke Matsushita remarked “To be so immersed in work that time and fatigue are forgotten is a state of deep concentration and joy. It’s a blissful, almost ecstatic experience, losing oneself in the task at hand.”

We believe that the creation of an environment to be in the flow state, as our Founder also said, is the greatest gift the company can offer to employees. This philosophy has been inherited and alive in the Panasonic Group, still now.
