Human Capital Management to Maximize the Potential of Individuals Entrusted by Society

The founder of the Panasonic Group, Konosuke Matsushita, placed significance on nurturing and developing people in his management so that they can thrive based on his philosophy of “Develop people before making products.” We inherit this philosophy and are practicing our management under the unwavering core of our Basic Business Philosophy to make the most of the human resources entrusted to us by society as our capital.

The management in our Group is not conducted by top executives alone. Under the idea of “employee entrepreneurship,” each and every employee regards themselves as responsible for their own tasks. Furthermore, we also emphasize “the participative management through collective wisdom,” where the diversity and abilities of all employees are utilized for management. The Basic Business Philosophy shows how our “autonomous responsible management” is achieved through both axes of “employee entrepreneurship” and “participative management through collective wisdom.”

In today's increasingly uncertain business landscape, we are committed to reshaping our corporate structure to fully implement our Basic Business Philosophy. As our company is a public entity, we recognize our responsibility to every employee entrusted to us by society, providing them with a workplace where they can maximize their skills and abilities. To achieve this, we will focus on optimizing work processes using advanced technologies, including AI.

In order to achieve an ideal society with affluence both in matter and mind, we will drive this transformation by becoming indispensable through consistently prioritizing each and every customer's needs.

A Company where Every Employee can "UNLOCK" their Potential

My idea of "Human Capital Management" is about establishing a higher-level WIN-WIN relationship between each individual and the organization. For employees, it means maximizing their potential, while for the organization, it involves growing the business and fulfilling its mission. A key element in this is organization culture, which can be intentionally designed.

To realize our business strategies, we have broken down the culture into six elements, such as "Evaluation & Compensation" and "Decision Making." Then, we defined them as the 6 Principles of Organization Design. Based on this fundamental concept, we will promote organization culture transformation in collaboration with our leaders.

Our goal is to create a company where employees “UNLOCK” themselves by actively and boldly embracing challenges to maximize their potential. Our founder, Konosuke Matsushita, once said, "The greatest gift the company can offer employees is the opportunity to immerse oneself in a state of work, losing oneself in the task at hand (in other words, a state of ‘flow’).” UNLOCK is rooted in the founder's philosophy, representing a return to our origins.

An organization culture requires a steady axis—such as mission and values—that remains consistent and unchanging. Our Group has an unwavering management axis, the Basic Business Philosophy, which has been passed down through over 100 years of history. We will return to this Basic Business Philosophy and create an organization culture where every employee can UNLOCK their potential.

If our Group can achieve this transformation, we can expect a ripple effect throughout society. "If Panasonic changes, society will change." We believe in this and will continue driving our transformation forward.
