Reason

In the Summer 2022, my partner’s job transferred to a new city, so I started working remotely.

Insights
  • My partner’s job requires moving every 3-4 years, so I am grateful for this system.
  • I travel to the office 1-2 times a month to strengthen communication with my colleagues.
  • Panasonic has so many support systems and ways to work. I hope everyone finds what works best.

Reason

My partner’s work was only available in southern Japan. This new system became available when I was considering changing jobs to keep the family together.

  • I am now more aware of time management than ever before so that I can balance my main job with my side job.
  • Now I come to have a multiple perspective in seeing matters that might affect our business partners, such as national economic policies.

Reason

As a hobby, I was involved in a study group that develops 3D CG applications, which caught the attention of a publishing company, leading me to an opportunity to write a book.

  • Using skills accumulated in the side job, successfully developed simulation software for the main job (optical design and development).
  • In my main job, coming to the office is fundamental as the experiments in work require specific equipment, while I work at home for my side job. I manage to find time to write while maintaining a work-time balance through changing mindset for each.

I had been taking photos for some events as a volunteer photographer. Then, I started to work as a professional as the new system became available.

  • The side job system has enabled me to enter the professional world immediately. In my busiest time, almost every weekend is booked with photo shoots.
  • Collaborating more and more with other professionals and gaining valuable insights from camera users, I would like to take these opportunities in utilization for product planning in my main job.
  • I also applied for an open recruitment for new business in the Group. Also, in my main business, I would like to take on the challenge of creating jobs that can make use of my personal strengths or hobbies.

Paternity Leave

“Being able to take 200 days of paternity leave while being a team manager was an invaluable experience.”

Reason

I had been sorry for my partner as I was unable to take paternity leave for my first child. That’s why I decided to spend precious time with my family when my second child was born.

Insights
  • I thought I was spending my time for the sake of my family. But through days during my paternity leave, I realized that it had not been enough, as well as respect of consideration for the family.
  • It is important to think and observe daily the necessary processes for better team management so that individuals can take leave anytime.
  • I realized that the longest possible period of time is preferable in paternity/maternity leave for any family. That was something that I learned from the experience in managing the life of my family, raising and knowing how children grow every day.

Internal Recruitment

“Moving into the work field of data utilization/generative AI by letting go of the assumption that you can’t handle it only because you majored in a non-scientific field.”

Reason

Knowing that the management had stated that “you can challenge whatever according to your career plan, over the boundaries regardless of your experience or college majors,” I thought I could make use of my experience in sales and planning in the new fields of data utilization/generative AI.

Insights
  • Having experienced a hardware-based work field, I was able to realize the great potential of data utilization. While keeping that sense, I would like to contribute to customers and society both onsite and beyond.
  • What I aim for is the creation of a business environment that truly brings out the value of data, in terms of user-friendliness, compliance, and security, together with our partner companies.

  • Not the method taken when I was a technical engineer to persuade people, I found a way to communicate in my new career “with thoughts or feelings first”, not theory.
  • Many issues in your career can be settled by taking action. You can expect support from the available system and people around you.

“While having a main role at a showroom in the middle of Japan, I also work as a writer for Panasonic Group intranet site to showcase employees throughout Japan.”

Reason

I applied for the other internal role opening for an interview writer on the Panasonic intranet site, as I had been interested in listening to people, as well as writing.

Insights
  • As my other internal role is completely different from the one I have been doing, I discovered new insights and lessons to be learned every day in communicating with people in interviews, with consideration of interviewees’ viewpoints.
  • As a writer, I am required to clarify the aims and schedule for the preparation of each article, making me more aware of them in my main role as well.
  • I received positive feedback when I applied the team-building techniques that had been conducted in my other internal role.
