Environment : Human Resource Development
Encouraging All Employees to Become Practitioners of Environmental Activities
We believe that the development of human resources is important in laying the foundations and promoting environmental sustainability management. To put this into action, a training curriculum is in place for each specialty and position. General Programs are organized for all employees to acquire environmental knowledge as well as learn about our environmental policy and activities. Specialized Programs are designed to bring employees' environmental skills to an advanced level.
General Programs are held every year at each business site for employees to acquire a wide range of knowledge, such as energy problems, trends in global society, and environmental activities by Panasonic. Additionally, training catered to the distinctive features of each operation is organized to provide information directly linked to business and operational activities. Other creative initiatives that we continue include environmental sustainability education to new employees and engineering-related employees using exclusive textbooks specific to their respective job experiences and skills to enable them to practice environmental action in their job activities.
For new employees in particular, we conduct group-wide training to learn about global social trends and about Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, the Group's long-term environmental vision. In fiscal 2024, the training was attended by 1,745 employees. Through the training, many employees have expressed their determination to deliver environmentally conscious products to our customers without changing the good quality of the products, and we are educating the generation that will be the leaders of the future to consider environmental issues as something that applies to them individually. In Specialized Programs, five courses were conducted in fiscal 2024, including a course to train ISO14001 internal environmental auditors and a course on the basics of product-related environmental laws and regulations. The scope of these targets is not limited to environmental professionals but is expanded to include related departments, aiming to increase the number of people practicing environmental activities.
We hold continual group training on environment risk and other key points in management for members who are assigned to overseas production sites, as companies are expected to take more and more actions for better environment a global scale.
Fostering Environmental Awareness and Skills through Global Competitions and On-site Training
Energy Conservation Diagnosis Skills Competition is held; as environment-related events in the Panasonic Group Manufacturing Skills Competition held annually for Panasonic employees worldwide, aimed at training employees to acquire advanced skills and become top runners in Panasonic manufacturing. We hope that these events will bring greater environmental awareness and continuous environmental activities among our employees, and thus lead to more active proposals to address and resolve wide-ranging environmental issues and business risks.
The Energy Conservation Diagnosis Competition is a competition that includes practical skills, and is held according to themes such as air conditioning, furnaces, and heat.
In this competition, participants are required to extract energy-saving issues and describe their countermeasures within the time limit through analysis of equipment operation status and energy usage status. It is a competition that requires problem-solving skills based on high-level environmental technology expertise and experience. At competitions, employees with excellent results are commended, and we are working to raise the level of the company as a whole by promoting the development of human resources who can play an active role in a more practical manner.
