Reasons for selecting the three themes
In 2018, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the company`s founding,
a review was undertaken of its activities to date as to what kind of social issues
the group as a whole could tackle for the future. Based on this, as the founder, Konosuke Matsushita thought that helping "eliminating poverty from the world"
should be the main mission for the company,
the company has now set its priority theme as Ending Poverty,
which is the starting point of the Panasonic Group's corporate activities to date as well as the first targeting in the SDGs.
In addition to this, as a result of reviewing the group's basic management policy with an eye on contemporary global social issues,
we have decided to work harder together
to help tackle global environmental issues.
Therefore, from 2022, we will place greater focus on another priority theme, Environmental Activities,
an area which we have been working at in our corporate citizenship activities to date.
Also, as stated in the words from the company's founder - "Develop people before making products"
the Panasonic Group has placed further importance on nurturing people
as the basis for solving problems.
We will also focus on Human Development (Learning Support) to help solve poverty and environmental issues.
