Free and open to the public upon reservation, the center is currently filled with dynamic displays aiming to educate and support the endeavors of younger generations. To ensure public safety, the Panasonic Center is also undertaking stringent COVID-19 countermeasures, including regular sanitization and ventilation of facilities. Read on to discover more about how Panasonic using the Tokyo 2020 Games and the Panasonic Center to promote social change and its plans for the future.

Nurturing Future Leaders

To ensure a future characterized by innovation and social change, Panasonic felt that, as a leading technology company, it needed to use its resources to help further universal education. When Tokyo was awarded the Games, Panasonic decided to leverage its role as an Official Worldwide Partner for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in AV equipment to spur change by providing free and equal education and a space for young people to be heard.

These efforts culminated in the Olympic and Paralympic Games Showcase, which serves to propagate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and engage with younger generations. Panasonic is working to make the Panasonic Center a pillar of support, helping to foster skilled and ambitious STEM-educated leaders itching to innovate and work towards SDGs.

Education and Fun Mixed Into One

The sports section of the showcase features tactile exhibitions exploring each element of the Games. The cultural area, meanwhile, hosts an enchanting exposition of Japanese art, design, and more. For children, the Active Learning Camp boasts games, quizzes, and interactive exhibits, allowing kids to have fun while discovering global cultures and the Olympic and Paralympic spirit.

One of the biggest highlights of the Olympic Games Showcase is the 360° Experience, a circular booth presenting an immersive show of light, sound, and visuals to convey passion, world peace, and the beauty of Japan. The center is fitted with three different 360° Experiences that can also be enjoyed online via the Panasonic YouTube channel. After touring the exhibitions, visitors are invited to write and display their own passions on a board at the front entrance, contributing to Panasonic’s collage of ideas and inspiration.

Growing and Learning Through Panasonic Center Tokyo

The Olympic and Paralympic Games Showcase project team has worked tirelessly since 2008 to establish the center as a lasting legacy covering a wide assortment of SDG-related topics, including global sustainability, diversity, and inclusion. Realizing that young people possess a surprisingly stark sense of social issues, the team wanted to create a space where they could come together to freely communicate and forge a brighter future.

Working with the same cohort of children to design the exhibitions and spread the word, the team watched as they absorbed information to grow into high schoolers with a deep, worldly knowledge keen to actively shape society. Hearing fond recollections of their childhood experiences at the center and how it contributed to their success and ambition has made all the effort worthwhile.

An Unmissable Counterpart to the Games

Brimming with immersive, educational experiences and inspiring events, the Olympic and Paralympic Games Showcase at the Panasonic Center Tokyo offers a captivating and informative counterpart to the Tokyo 2020 Games. Panasonic hopes that, through the showcase, visitors will be inspired to venture out into the world looking to spur social chance and help design the world of tomorrow. Even if you can’t make it in person, many of the Panasonic Center’s events and experiences are available online, so there’s no missing out!
