There are infinite ways to run a business, but one thing that you should keep in mind no matter what path you choose is the importance of running your business independently and autonomously. By this I mean that you should strive to be basically independent in every respect: capital, technological development, and other aspects of management.
A company may need to rely on outside help from time to time, and there are situations in which borrowing in some form may be the most efficient use of resources. But ultimately, if such a situation goes on too long, it is human nature to gradually, if unintentionally, become sloppy or negligent, and your people may cease to assume full responsibility for everything that needs to be done. Reliance on external strength, too, ultimately makes the organization more easily influenced by changes in external circumstances.
