Panasonic Group in Thailand, in partnership with Ajinomoto FD Green (Thailand) Co., Ltd., continues its commitment to environmental conservation with the second year of “Panasonic & FD Green Activity: Planting Trees and Restoring the Forest for Local Communities” under Panasonic Cares. This year, the initiative donates 1,325 trees—including Queen’s Crape Myrtle, Trumpet Tree and Indian Cork tree.—plus 300 kg of SuperAsh soil structure improvement materials to improve green spaces in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Municipality. The event held on March 14, 2025, was also joined by the Foundation for Environmental Education for Sustainable Development (Thailand).

Mr. Hidekazu Ito, CEO of Panasonic Group in Thailand, said, “The Panasonic Group in Thailand is continuing the “Panasonic Cares” initiative into its second year, reinforcing its commitment to conducting business’ For the Well-being of People, Society, and the Planet,’ prioritizing sustainable health, safety, and comfort for individuals, society, and all life on land. The project’s framework aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in key areas: Good Health & Well-being, Quality Education, Life on Land, No Poverty, and Responsible Consumption and Production. This is in line with Panasonic’s Green Impact, the global environmental vision of the Panasonic Group, aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions across our value chain and delivering recycling-oriented manufacturing products to customers, minimizing the issue of non-biodegradable waste by 2030.

In its second year, the “Panasonic Cares” project has launched several initiatives, including the “Together with Panasonic: Separate Waste for a Cleaner Community” campaign, which provided recycling bins to schools and communities nationwide, piloted in Khon Kaen, Samut Prakan, and Pathum Thani, to promote proper waste disposal. The “Light up The Future” initiative donated solar lanterns to remote communities and schools in Chiang Rai, providing children with sufficient light for reading at night. Additionally, the “Panasonic Hero Run Green Impact for Charity 2024” raised funds for medical equipment at Vajira Hospital, and several other activities have also been carried out.”

Recently, Panasonic partnered with Ajinomoto FD Green (Thailand) Co., Ltd. for the second consecutive year of the “Panasonic & Ajinomoto FD Green Activity: Planting Trees and Restoring the Forest for Local Communities” initiative, building on the success of last year’s tree-planting campaign in Khon Kaen. This year, the initiative is also supported by the Foundation for Environmental Education for Sustainable Development (Thailand): FEED, to enhance the long-term sustainability of its environmental restoration efforts. The Panasonic Group in Thailand has prepared 1,325 trees for planting, including Queen’s crape myrtle, Trumpet Tree and Indian Cork tree. These trees were contributed through the Panasonic Hero Run Green Impact for Charity 2024, including in-person and virtual participation. Over 1,300 participants—Panasonic employees, their families, partners, and Panasonic scholarship students—took part in the distance accumulation run activity. For every 10-kilometer run, one tree was planted, resulting in 8,753 kilometers and 875 trees. Additionally, a promotion for the Panasonic Hair Dryer NA0J Mist Gray color, featuring environmentally friendly biomass paint made from 36% plant-based materials and eco-friendly packaging with less than 2% plastic, was held. For every hairdryer sold during the campaign, five trees were planted, leading to a total of 450 trees planted through this initiative.

Mr. Kohei Ishikawa, Managing Director of Ajinomoto FD Green (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “Ajinomoto FD Green (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Panasonic share a common vision for environmental sustainability, emphasizing ecosystem restoration, enhancing natural balance, and improving the quality of life for local communities. With this shared vision, the collaborative initiative, ‘Panasonic & Ajinomoto FD Green Activity: Planting Trees and Restoring the Forest for Local Communities,’ continues into its second year. As part of this effort, 300 kilograms of ‘SuperAsh’ soil structure improvement materials are provided to enhance soil quality, ensuring optimal conditions for tree growth. This contribution strengthens trees, enabling them to thrive sustainably in alignment with environmental policies—an essential mission of the Ajinomoto Group worldwide. We are committed to maintaining product quality, prioritizing safety, benefiting farmers, and being environmentally friendly, and we sincerely hope this collaboration brings meaningful benefits to local communities and serves as a significant step toward long-term environmental sustainability.”

Mr. Koji Kawaguchi, Managing Director of Panasonic Manufacturing Ayutthaya Co., Ltd. (PMFAT), said, “Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province is an area where PMFAT has always received support. We appreciate everyone who participated in the Planting Trees and Restoring the Forest for Local Communities activity by Panasonic Cares and joined us in this environmental conservation effort. Over time, PMFAT has implemented measures to reduce Co2 emissions by utilizing solar power. These efforts include installing high-efficiency equipment and managing energy consumption. As a result, we have reduced CO₂ emissions by approximately 7%, or 1,200 tons per year.

In addition, we organize an annual initiative to distribute 1,000 seedlings to employees for planting in their communities or homes. We also promote Reuse & Recycle, such as collecting used desk calendars for Braille book production and gathering UHT beverage cartons for housing projects, which benefit society in various ways. PMFAT remains committed to developing technologies and strategies that minimize environmental impact, preserving abundant natural resources for future generations.”

Dr. Chaweewan Hutacharern, Chairman of the Foundation for Environmental Education for Sustainable Development (Thailand): FEED, said, “We sincerely thank the Panasonic Group in Thailand for entrusting our foundation to organize today’s tree-planting activity. These trees will not only increase green spaces and absorb carbon dioxide but also enhance biodiversity by providing habitats for various organisms, bringing coolness to Ayutthaya Province. We invite everyone to return and help care for the trees so we can witness their growth together in the future.”
