AkeruE's Background Story
On April 3, 2021, Panasonic opened "AkeruE" at the Panasonic Center Tokyo as a space to develop children's intellectual curiosity and their inspiration (Eureka in Greek).
Nowadays, society is becoming more and more unpredictable, the speed of change is fast, and various events are intricately related. Any social problem is not so simple that it can be solved by one person. Creating a state is being more important as many people as possible can think about how to live in this society, cooperate to solve it, and act positively.
What is important for children who live in such an era and build the coming future?— “AkeruE” was established with the idea of what we can do as a corporate citizen who also creates the future, as our corporate philosophy including the following statement, "We will devote ourselves to the progress and development of society and the well-being of people through our business activities, thereby enhancing the quality of life throughout the world” meaning to contribute to the development of culture and education through corporate activities.
"AkeruE" is creative museum in Japan that respects children's learning to make what they want to make and to learn as playing. In addition to input-based exhibition learning, we make importance of providing the experience of making things by themselves. We believe the discoveries gained from that creative action will give children an opportunity to act with confidence and have an intellectual curiosity about their surroundings, and that getting such discoveries more and more will become the "power to live" in this society and the power to take positive action.
In addition, one of our goals is to build a co-educational community where both children and adults can learn together. We will explore the ideal way of education in a new era through collaboration with parents, local residents, and people involved in education.
However, in this uncertain world, we believe that we will continue to explore the better way to support the next generation. Therefore, with "AkeruE" as an opportunity, we will think about the future of education through the co-learning process with children, parents, local residents, and people involved in education, as "a co-education community”. We will strive to build an new educational culture with an eye on the coming era from this “AkeruE” to the world.
The name "AkeruE" refers to draw out the creativity of children and to open up (akeru in Japanese) from the international cultural exchange city "Ariake".
We will try to create a place where children and adults can say “Eureka”, have their own discoveries and ideas that opens their view of thought, give shape with their own hands, and share them with the world.
