FY2023 “Panasonic Scholarship Asia” Activity Report

The activities of the "Panasonic Scholarship Asia" for the 2023 fiscal year have been concluded.
Panasonic Scholarship Asia offers three main types of support. These are “Support for Learning,” “Philosophy Learning,” and “Support for Networking.”
In 2023, we conducted through the three pillars of scholarship support: "educational support," "philosophy training," and "networking support."

In 2023, the total of 105 scholarship students were certified. Due to the impact of the COVID-19, the certification ceremonies had to be held online after in the past few years.

However, in 2023, many countries were able to hold in-person certification ceremonies, providing scholars with the opportunity to directly interact and strengthen their bonds.

The certified students were from Cambodia (6), China (18), Indonesia (22), Malaysia (5), the Philippines (14), Taiwan (10), Thailand (10), and Vietnam (20), totaling 105 students. The cumulative total of scholarship students since 2014 has reached 1,033.

*FY2023 is from April 2023 to March 2024.

We have launched a “Philosophy Learning” program on the subject of our founder’s ideas and values. Learning sessions were conducted in nine countries that are home to the 2023 awardees (*And some 2022 awardees). The learning sessions were conducted using curricula unique to each country.

In February 2024, the nine entries that claimed victory following a fierce competition and became representatives of their respective countries gathered at the Panasonic Scholarship Global Contest, which was presided over by the Scholarship Office in Japan.
After a lengthy period of time with much discussion and debate, the office ultimately selected the top four entries as works of excellence.
The learning sessions were met with such high enthusiasm that it was hard to believe this was the first time a program like this was being held.

This year an online networking event was again held for Panasonic Scholarship Asia alumni. 34 participants from 13 countries around the world.
After graduating from the Panasonic scholarship, some students have worked in multiple countries and companies, and some have even started their own businesses to achieve their dreams, so the opportunities for success are increasingly expanding.
The event was a great opportunity to get a glimpse of their successes.

In addition, unique networking events were held in several countries, deepening connections between alumni.

In some countries, alumni also participated in the certification ceremony as alumni, encouraging the scholars by sharing their experiences and careers. The Japan office also participated in the certification ceremony and had direct interaction with the scholarship students and alumni.

In 2024, Panasonic Scholarship Asia will continue to support young talent from nine countries and regions who will lead Asia in the 21st century.
