In a jungle spreading in Adventureland, lies the famous Jungle Cruise. This popular attraction, which has drawn Guests since the grand opening of Tokyo Disneyland®, completed its first renovation in 31 years in the fall of 2014.
Behind the renovation are Panasonic lighting solutions, adding more fun and excitement to this beloved attraction.

Experience the all-new daytime jungle!“Hey everyone! Welcome to the thrill-filled jungle expedition!” With this lively greeting from the skipper, embark on a journey through the jungle where you will encounter wild animals. Hop on a boat and set off on a grand adventure. In the journey through the thick, dense jungle, all sorts of experiences await you. Be fascinated with the amazing animals and the jungle stretching before your very eyes. Continuing on with the journey, you will discover the legendary temple. In the all-new Jungle Cruise, more surprises and exciting experiences await as you explore deeper. |

Giving the guests who love the Jungle Cruise renewed enjoyment
Jungle Cruise is an attraction that has been popular with our Guests for the past 31 years since its opening. With humorous dialog from the skipper, a production replicating jungles from around the world, and life-like animals, this attraction is enjoyed by all kinds of Guests and remains popular to this day. Even with the renovations, this is the one thing that should remain unchanged. Our mission was to make Guests realize after the improvement “Oh, this is new” while keeping what they expect to be the same.
The main theme of the current Jungle Cruise is that Guests will always find new surprises and discoveries each time they visit. We integrated the production with lighting in order to offer different ways to enjoy the ride in daytime and nighttime. The one thing we were most careful about with the lighting production is that the Guests don’t sense the use of the latest technology.
While state-of-the-art technology is used from the jungle and inside the temple to the waiting area, we made this inconspicuous, so I believe that it will bring a new sense of excitement to our Guests.
There are lots of spots in the night cruise that are different from the daytime cruise, therefore we invite you to also enjoy the night cruise.

See the myriad twinkling lights create a fantasy space at night!“Finding out about this, I went to experience the night cruise!” The night cruise that used to rely on the dim light held by the skipper has been transformed into a fantastic play of lights. Embark on the journey through the jungle when dusk falls and see the glow of the myriad fireflies. The fireflies glowing in the pitch black forest will see you off as you embark on your great night adventure. The cute animals in the daytime completely change during the night, becoming spectacular. The legendary temple is also illuminated by the moonlight, making the cruise more thrilling. Even the elephants that are seen at the end of the journey become more mysterious. You can experience totally different worlds during day and night. |

Unique, one-of-a-kind light by Panasonic technology
Jungle Cruise is an adventure attraction set in the mid-20th century. This historical setting cannot be changed for any reason. So during the renovation, the production team asked us to recreate the lighting as if it was that era, using LED lights. Our mission was to create a lamp which flickers like candlelight being blown by the wind, adding fascination to the Jungle Cruise.
However, changing modern LED lights to look like “old-fashion lamps” was unexpectedly difficult. Of course, existing LED lights don't have the same glow, so we had to adjust the color temperature and illuminance over and over, until we developed an original lighting that matches the Jungle Cruise era.I remember feeling relieved when the finished lights were finally placed inside the Jungle Cruise, after meticulously creating each one.
Since we were chosen for our secure designs and eco-friendly lighting, unique to Panasonic, from now on, we will maintain the good parts while improving one step further, just as they've done in Jungle Cruise, and continue to support Tokyo Disneyland® through our technology.

The lighting does not simply light up but also makes the place picturesque. The excitement and thrill in the nighttime Jungle Cruise come from this dedication and enthusiasm. When I see the faces of two people sharing their passions, a big surge of emotion washes over me. Tokyo Disneyland® continues to dedicate everything for the Guests.
